Measles, Mumps & Rubella (MMR) Vaccine
Protects against three serious viral infections — measles, mumps, and rubella. Ideal for routine immunisation and travel to outbreak regions.
About Measles, Mumps & Rubella (MMR) & the Vaccine
What is Measles, Mumps & Rubella (MMR)?
Measles, mumps, and rubella are highly contagious viral diseases that can cause serious complications. Measles can lead to pneumonia and brain inflammation, mumps can cause meningitis and infertility, and rubella is especially dangerous during pregnancy due to the risk of birth defects. Outbreaks still occur globally, including in parts of Europe, Asia, and Africa.
Travel-Focused Vaccine Information
MMR is recommended for unvaccinated adults or those unsure of their immunisation status, especially if travelling to areas with known outbreaks. The standard course is two doses at least 28 days apart. Individuals born before 1970 may have natural immunity but should still consider testing or vaccination. It’s suitable for adults and children over 12 months old.
